Kickbox (Sportkarate) started it's world conquering journey in the USA decades ago. On 16th of july 1986 ISKA (International Sport Kickboxing Association) was established in the USA, this asscociation gathers the tradicional and sport styles.
ISKA coordinates it's events and lists champions in 13 styles (Semi-, Light-, Full-contact, Free-style - Kickboxing, Thaiboxing, Oriental, San Shou, Full-contact Karate, UFC, Forms, Fitness...).
In 2005, on five continents more than 200 ISKA title fights were organized. In the USA the association organizes K1 galas and the biggest martial art event: the US Open Martial Arts Championships. ISKA also launched "pay per view" television service.
Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damme, Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Cynthia Rothrock, Ernie Reyes Jr. and Jeff Speakman are all members of ISKA. The recent ranking list includes such names as: Fairtex Bunkerd, Masato, Andre Manaart, Alexey Ignashov, Jerome Le Banner, Peter Aerts, Remy Bonjansky and many more.
On 10th of september 2005, in Vienna, with the lead of ISKA president Mr Cory Schafer a european congress was held with the purpose of forming ISKA-Europe. The newly formed asscoation's task is to coordinate and supervise amateur tournaments along with professional galas and title fights on the "old" continent.
Sport experts were invited from numerous countries for the event. In Vienna, at the congress, the representatives of Turkey, Germany, Austria, England, Croatia, Denmark, Scandinavian countries, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, Switzerland, Macedonia and Hungary appeared in person. Several other countries, who were not present, signalled their intention getting the membership in written form (Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, France, Belgium, Italy, Greece).
From our country the leader of Full-contact Sport Szeged SE Mr Emil Kiss and his international referee Andras Sliz were invited for the congress in Vienna.
The appeared representatives of the congress after the greeting the president and introducing the associations's aims established ISKA-Europe.
